Subject: Web app, how to select docs and run agent on them?
Feedback Type: Question
Product Area: Domino Designer on Eclipse (DDE)
Technical Area: Application Development
Platform: Windows
Release: 8.5.3
Reproducible: Not applicable
What I want is a method that allows the user to select 1 to n documents displayed in a view (or other list-like structure), and click something that stuffs data into one or more fields for the selected docs.
The next extenstion of this method would be to include user prompts that help control the process; for instance, the user may enter the 'final' value for one of the fields and that value goes into the selected docs.
I've just spent the last couple of hours trying to find ideas for how to do this and have come up dry. I'm probably using the wrong search criteria. I don't need code but could use either some general suggestions for how to approach the problem or links to concepts I can use.
I design almost exclusively for the client and, as of this moment, am still using the 6.5 client running on an 8.5.3 server. I'm open to doing design in the 8.5 designer or even looking at 9.x if that makes sense. Mostly, I'm looking for a push in the (generally) right direction. I'll take an easy ugly hack over an elegant, difficult to implement method.
From what I can find, docCollections doen't work on the web.
I seem to recall that version 9 is able to render Notes apps to the web 'just like they're in the client' but wonder if the reality meets the expectation.
Thanks in advance for any tips or pointers.
Doug
